It has been about two years since Music Hall began manufacturing turntables. They have released four models so far, the MMF-1.0, 1.2, 2.0, and 3.0. The MMF-3.0 comes with a nice wooden box that looks like it was made from an old-school record player cabinet. It sports a very classy look to it. Inside you will find the turntable itself along with all of the necessary accessories.
Also included is a high-quality cloth bag. The MMF-3.0 is a belt-driven table with a tonearm weight capacity of 30kg. Direct drive motors eliminate belts and pulleys from the process. The speed control uses a potentiometer instead of a rotary encoder. There is also a built-in phono preamp.
It also includes a remote control unit that allows you to change tracks without having to get up off your seat. You can even use this remote to adjust the volume if needed. Overall I think the MMF-3 is a pretty good entry level turntable. It’s not going to be as fast as some other higher end models but it does offer a lot of value for the price. An investment like this can last for many years if you’re looking for something that will last.
I’ve had my MMF-3.01 for almost a year now and I’m really happy with it. I bought it because I wanted something that would last me a long time and I didn’t want to spend too much money. So far it’s holding its own against my more expensive turntables. I do recommend getting the MMF-3 over the MMF-1 series because it offers better sound quality.
You should still be able to find a decent quality turntable for less than $500. If you’re interested in learning more about the MMF-3 check out our review video below where we go through everything you need to know about the MMF-300.
